JANIE

Long Beach folk-rock act Janie was started by songwriters Matthew Hill & George Madrid with the idea of taking a family band approach to classic American music and revamping it for today's eclectic music climate. Taking inspiration from  classic Country Western, psychedelic influences, and modern art rock, the songs paint a vivid picture of the American experience today. Janie's live energy is raw and visceral, frequently collaborating with an ever-evolving  group of artists within the vibrant Long Beach arts community.  In 2017 Janie played the Long Beach Folk Revival Festival, opening up for songwriting heroes Lucero and Billy Joe Shaver. In 2018 Janie plays Summer & Music's Buskerfest and will be releasing their debut three-song EP, featuring the single "Heat It Up".

JANIE RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE & VIDEO

Long beach BAND to play buskerfest september 8th

LONG BEACH, CA - After numerous line-ups and a tumultuous first two years, "family band" Janie releases their harmony-laden psych-folk debut single "Share the Sky".  Taking their name from bandleader's Great Aunt Jane is testament to the family style approach to music so central to the band's culture.

Janie was started by songwriters Matthew Hill & George Madrid with the idea of taking a family band approach to classic American music and revamping it for today's eclectic music climate. This week Janie releases their debut single "Share The Sky" on Long Beach based label Monte Bre Records.

Self-produced and recorded by the group themselves, the record has aa relaxed, down-home feel. The music reminds us of Jackson Browne and Tom Petty's earlier work while at the same time feeling altogether new and fresh. Three part harmony vocals together with a steel guitar help to give this group a distinctive sound is all their own.
